Investigators are still in the dark over what happened to that flight. and you just saw the last report there, so many families that just want a shred of information. just some answers. they have nothing. i couldn t imagine. cnn s jonathan mann takes a look at the intensive search for that plane. reporter: since mh-370 went missing, authorities have searched millions of square kilometers of the indian ocean. at first, they focused in the south china sea, near where last contact was made. a week later, they shifted the search south to the indian ocean, based on radar information and where the plane is believed to have veered off course. sonar and ocean floor mapping technology started soon after. all if all, 22 planes and 19 ships could not find any trace of the aircraft. so authorities went back to the ....

There were thunderstorms and they were very clearly stated and laid out on the forecast. but they were 300 miles away from where they were taking off. there was nothing that said, don t go. what we should be focusing on is the decision to deal with the weather as it happened in-flight. 40 minutes in when there were these towering thunderstorms on the horizon for the crew how they reacted, what they did, that s the key stuff to think about here. what s taking so long in releasing the actual communications between the cockpit and ground control? we haven t heard those audiotapes or even gotten a transcript of it. i d love a transcript of that. i d love to hear that. i d like to see some primary radar information from the military radar to indicate if this aircraft broke up before it went in. again, we re in this situation where it s kind of a dearth of information. it s not typical, the kind of investigative pace that we would expect in the u.s. and this other notion we discussed t ....

In the world and along with those is a lot of downward force and upward force. a basically big old heat cycle and heat engine. on the upward part you ll go for a ride up. the question that we do have to ask to be careful about we re look at radar data which comes from the trance responder. this is the secondary radar information and don t know how accurate that is necessarily. there could have been preliminaries with the instrumentation on the aircraft or could have been iced over pitot tubes but a static inlet which indicates the altitude which could have provided some bad data in this case. having said that that would be no surprise given the environmental conditions that this plane was flying into. but there are other aircraft flying in the vicinity as well. they managed to land safely. thunderstorms are incredibly dynamic and short-lived. what happens in one place five minutes later can be a complooltly different story so when people say, well another plane flew through there, ....

It indicates from the speed readings that the radar information has given us that the plane went into a stall which is where the wind cannot support the aircraft anymore at that altitude and then at that weight and then we have shown the plane descending at 11,000 feet a minute and 24,000 feet a minute before impacting the sea. now, of course this is again data supplied by indonesia. it is not confirmed by the authorities, but this seems to paint a picture similar to what happened with air france 447 in 2009 where they got into some serious difficulties and plummeted into the ocean and there was no may day call from the pilots there either. yeah the same thing as here. well we ll continue to follow developments and we appreciate your time. and hopefully soon we ll have some concrete evidence that you ....

The debris that has been found is, what does that tell you as a pilot about what those pilots might have been trying to do from the moment that there was the last radar sighting the moment there was the call asking to ascend and it was denied. to the moment that the plane went down. you know, we got to be a little bit careful here in using that radar information to draw a lot of conclusions about this. i think the difference between where the debris is found and where ultimately the aircraft is found at the bottom of the sea is very important. because that will tell you what was falling off the airplane and when. did it break up did portions of it fall off because of turbulence or hail or some strange excursion of the flight because they were trying to handle it in a difficult weather situation. or did it was it able to largely drop from the sky intact? was it sort of an aerodynamic ....
