Crop input giant Nutrien of Saskatoon is making an effort to help set up a program to compensate farmers for practices to reduce climate change.
The vice president of sustainability for Nutrien, Candace Laing, says the company has set a goal to reduce greenhouse gases while still increasing food for a hungry world.
“As a really important carbon sink, we can bring even more practices for growers, and incense them in using those practices,” said Laing. “And make sure we’re compensating growers for the work they’re doing for the environment, which is really making sure and that’s what we’re focused on, one of our big commitments to launch and scale a carbon program for growers.”
