Rahim Daya has been appointed CEO of Barclays Bank (Suisse) SA and will relocate to the Barclays’ Geneva office, where he will be responsible for positioning the business for growth in the region.

Daya will also retain his position as Head of the Middle East Market for Barclays Private Bank and will report into Gérald Mathieu, who recently became Head of Barclays Private Bank, Europe, & Middle East and CEO for Barclays Monaco.

Daya has spent the past two years based in Dubai as Head of Barclays Private Bank, UAE & Middle East. Prior to moving to the Middle East, Daya was Head of Business Transformation for Barclays Private Bank. He started his career at RBS, where he ran various strategic projects globally for the Retail and Wealth businesses.

More tech jobs coming to Toronto with launch of a new Pinterest engineering hub

The engineering hub’s launch will mark the expansion of the first Canadian office that Pinterest had opened in Toronto in 2018, which will now grow to house almost half of the company’s shopping experience engineering team.
“Our new engineering office in Toronto will help Pinterest access world-class engineering and machine learning talent while contributing to the technology community in Toronto,” said Rahim Daya, head of international product and the Toronto engineering tech lead for Pinterest, in an emailed news release.
Not unlike Uber and Twitter, which have recently set up engineering hubs in the city, Pinterest says that its decision to open the hub in Toronto was based on the large talent pool emerging in the city from universities such as the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto.

The company says it plans to hire 50 new employees in 2021, including first-time roles in engineering, sales, insights and marketing.
âOur new engineering office in Toronto will help Pinterest access world class engineering and machine learning talent while contributing to the technology community in Toronto,â said Rahim Daya, Pinterestâs head of international product and the Toronto engineering tech lead, in an emailed press release.
