Islamabad : The ground breaking ceremony for the construction of new buildings of the Department of Pharmacy and Hostel No. 13 for Girls at Quaid-i-Azam University was held here on Wednesday.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice-Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University laid the foundation stones for the buildings.
The scheduled time for the construction of the academic block is 18 months with an estimated cost of Rs183 million. While the girl’s hostel, a facility to accommodate 300 students will be completed in 13 months with an estimated cost of Rs173 million.
The foundation stone for the construction of the road from Admin Block turn to Shahdara Road under the PSDP project was also laid. Islamabad : The group headed by Dr Hassan Mahmood that grabbed all seats with thumping majority in the polls to elect office-bearers for the next term for Academic Staff Association (ASA), Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), has assumed their seats here Monday.
Earlier in the elections held on January 29, Dr Hasan Mahmood won by getting 158 votes while his rival panel candidate Dr Burhan Ali Shah secured 76 votes. Dr Fouzia Farooq with 132 and Dr Ahmed Khan with 119 votes grabbed two seats of vice-presidents. Their rival candidates who lost the seats were Dr Rubab Zahra (81), Dr Amir Waseem (60) and Dr Mona Lisa (37). ....

ISLAMABAD: Prof Zafar Nawaz Jaspal from the Quaid-i-Azam University has expressed concerns over the aggressive regional policy of India under Modi.
Dr Jaspal was speaking at a panel discussion on “India under Modi” organised here by the Institute of Regional Studies. He said the Indian regional policy formulation is inspired by the Mandalas concept enunciated by the Indian political philosopher Chankya by virtue of which a neighbouring country had to remain unfriendly by definition. He expressed his concern over the transformation of Indian nuclear posture towards Pakistan from deterrence to what he called “compelling”. He opined that India was now allied with the US and was thus no longer a non-aligned country. ....
