UK Strain Of COVID-19 Found In Rajasthan: State Government


COVID-19 Rajasthan: "We sent samples for genome sequencing," Rajasthan Health Minister said

The UK strain of COVID-19 has been found in the samples sent from Rajasthan for genome sequencing, the state government said today.
According to Rajasthan's Health Minister Raghu Sharma, the reports were received a couple of days back.
We had sent samples for genome sequencing. In the samples, UK strain was found, Mr Sharma said.
On the directions of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, officials have started the process of setting up genome sequencing facility at the Swai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur, he said.
Once we know about the strain and other details, the line of treatment may be updated accordingly, he said.

Called the “Jan Anushahan Pakhwada'' (public discipline fortnight), only shops and offices providing essential services will open during the 15-day period, the release issued by Home Secretary Abhay Kumar said.
The sale of fruits and vegetables will be allowed till 7 pm.
Those entering Rajasthan will have to show a negative RT-PCR report issued 72 hours prior to the travel.
Vendors will be allowed to distribute newspapers from 4 am to 8 am.
Government officials, people going to and coming from airports, bus stands, railway stations, metro stations will be allowed for movement.

As India faces a second wave of COVID-19 restrictions, the trend of people refraining from unnecessary travel is already emerging.
Google’s latest Mobility Report shows that there’s a nationwide drop of 22% of people heading to shopping malls, cinemas, restaurants and cafes.
The most drastic dip is in the state of Maharashtra, which currently has the highest number of COVID-19 infections in the country, with a 39% dip in retail and recreation mobility.Cases of COVID-19 are beginning to spike for a second time in India and the worst-hit states are already seeing lockdown trends re-emerge. Fewer people are looking to go to restaurants, cafes, shopping malls and theatres, and are heading to supermarkets and pharmacies for necessities instead.
