The UK strain of COVID-19 has been found in the samples sent from Rajasthan for genome sequencing, the state government said today.
According to Rajasthan s Health Minister Raghu Sharma, the reports were received a couple of days back.
We had sent samples for genome sequencing. In the samples, UK strain was found, Mr Sharma said.
On the directions of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, officials have started the process of setting up genome sequencing facility at the Swai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur, he said.
Once we know about the strain and other details, the line of treatment may be updated accordingly, he said. ....

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday urged the Centre to send 201 metric tonnes of medical oxygen on an emergency basis to the state to help it deal with the crisis arising out of the raging coronavirus pandemic.
He said the state government needed 466 metric tonnes of medical oxygen for those under treatment for COVID-19, but has only 265 metric tonnes in its stock. ....

Four Covid-19 patients died at a private hospital in Jaipur following which their family members created ruckus at the facility alleging there was no staff to change oxygen cylinders, police said on Wednesday.
Station House Officer of Kalwar police station, Gurudutt Saini, said oxygen was available but no staff was available to replace the cylinders at the hospital. ....

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], April 19 (ANI): Amid an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, the Rajasthan government has imposed an Anushashan Pakhwada , a self-discipline fortnight, from April 19 to May 3.
The Pakhwada will come into effect from 5 am on Monday till 5 am on May 3.
All workplaces, businesses and markets, including general activities, will be restricted during the period.
However, essential services workers will be exempted from the restrictions.
Government officials, people going to and coming from airports, bus stands, railway stations, metro stations will be allowed for movement.
Also, vegetable and fruit vendors will be allowed to sell till seven in the evening. ....
