By Doug Barrett Feb 17, 2021 9:22 AM The city of Grand Forks will chip in $100,000 dollars to help support the NCHC Frozen Faceoff tournament at the Ralph Englestad Arena. The money is part of a “Festival Fund” created in 2015 to drive economic growth in the city. There is around $269,000 dollars in the Economic Development budget. REA General Manager Jody Hodgson told council members last night the money – along with a $25,000 dollar commitment from the C-V-B – was key in landing the event. Hodgson says attendance will remain capped at 3,000 fans. “The biggest benefactors from a commercial standpoint will be hotels…restaurants…and bars. We are trying to get some of that going. We have also been very collaborative with Altru and public health – we are not throwing the doors open.” ....
