Hundreds of thousands of marine life are dead and Waipū residents are being driven out of their homes by a stench described as rotten eggs and dead bodies believed to be caused by recurring algal
bloom.
What s more, a wildlife refuge within the affected area is an integral feeding zone for protected bird species.
The Waipū estuary lagoon, south of Johnson s Point, has been described as a dead zone with lifeless marine species including eels, fish and plants. What remains alive are said to be beaching themselves, gasping for breath in an attempt to escape the black oxygen-depleted waters, believed to be from trapped and rotting algal bloom. ....

Hello everyone, I would like to share an experience with my Mahindra XUV5OO that can be best described as ‘Kuch Khatti, kuch meethi’!
The story begins by around May 2020. I was stuck at my workplace at Wayanad during Covid lockdown. So when things started opening up, decided to visit home as early as possible. My home is at Ernakulam which is about 250 kms away from my workplace. I drove home one weekend, spent some time with family, and was planning to leave after a couple of days. On the day of return, as I was about to get into the car, saw a small pool of oil lying beneath the hood area. I was alarmed and checked the oil level which showed a small dip, although above minimum level (have a habit of checking oil level every now and then, thanks to my dad). Plateau Governor raises alarm as herdsmen kill four in fresh attacks

Plateau State Governor, Mr. Simon Lalong has raised the alarm over recurring killings in Bassa community of the state, describing it as worrisome.
He asked security operatives to do everything to bring the situation to a halt.
The directive followed renewed attacks on villages of Kwall district by suspected Fulani herders.
The herders allegedly laid ambush on four persons returning home from an outing on Sunday evening, killing three on the spot, before killing another in the village.
The governor, who also described the situation as intolerable, directed the state Peace Building Agency to visit the area and get to the root of the killings, warning that the situation must be brought under control immediately to prevent further degeneration. ....
