Sinfonia Spring Concert
Sinfonia concludes the season with two musical reflections of Irish culture and a fun nod to Cinco de Mayo. As the first symphony by a woman performed by a major symphony orchestra in the U.S., Amy Beach’s Symphony in E minor opened the door for countless women composers. She boldly incorporated Gaelic melodies and quotations from her own music into the symphony. Princeton sophomore Toussaint Santicola Jones also turned to Irish myth as the inspiration for his new piece, Naked, Upon the Road to Tara.
