Our fishing communities, our tourism here in florida depends on marine species that live on so it s a food source, it is also where breeding takes place, and so, you know, this ecosystem becomes very fragile. and while it is detrimental to marine life, let s zero in some more on the economy that also relies on the coral reef along florida s coast. how much trouble is it in now? florida s economy is really dependent on the resources that our coral reeves here provide for us. we re one of the fishing capitals in the world, so if people no longer come here to fish or dive and snorkel on our reefs, we re losing all of that tourism revenue and for those who rely on the revenue, fishing communities who depend on that for income. and then finally we have miles and miles of coastal property and beaches that are vulnerable to flooding and e roerosion. ....

Cascading affects. we are already seeing some of them and we will see more. coral bleaching, which is this phenomenon were coral turns wides and dies basically of starvation, i suspect we are in for a mitchell carl bleach in the area now. a lot of the reefs of florida already just destroyed. but those that haven t already been destroyed are going to be destroyed the summer. the only thing i hold on to, and i close every segment on this, this is a projection from the rocky mountain and that yet about solar and green energy adoption in 2030. we are finally doing something there. it is not going to happen fast enough, but we are going to their hopefully saying we can cross that threshold in 2030. but we still need it faster, don t we? absolutely. the clip that you showed, if i would want to deliver one ....

Bleaching are the ones that make up the structural framework. all the habitats, the nooks and crannies. if they die, they ll start to disintegrate. we lose the physical habitat that more than 25% of all the world s marine species depend on coral habitat at some point in time. this recovery period is really dependent on if environmental conditions improve or if there are other stressors like hurricanes that can come through and cause further physical damage. but mission iconic reefs, the program that i m a part of, is working on a 20-year long restoration effort with climate change in mind to physically restore these reefs in the face of climate change using corals that we hope to be more resilient. that you hope will be more resilient. we see the effects. we see some of the pictures that you ve shared with us. ....
