Shanghai residents will receive “carbon credits” by living eco-friendly and low-carbon lifestyles as part of China's push to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Low-carbon activities, such as green transportation, simple packaging, garbage sorting and "empty plate" campaign, will be converted into the credits in personal accounts based on the carbon emissions that have been avoided.
