ST. LOUIS -- The Westminster College men's wrestling team kicked off its season on Saturday in St. Louis as it competed in the Maryville Open.

Just making it to Saturday night meant everything to Isaac Enloe. Last year, the Jefferson City senior was the lone Jay qualifier not to medal at the Class 3 state tournament. This year, he was the best finisher on his team.

Four Cavaliers locked in their spot in today’s action at the Class 3 State wrestling tournament at Mizzou Arena. After Day 1, Capital City is tied for 24th with seven team points. A.J. Kempker was the first Capital City grappler to earn his spot in Day 2, when he used a reversal, two takedowns and a stalling point to build a 7-3 decision over Warrenton’s Noah Lohrman at 120 pounds.

Today will be a day of new experiences for the Capital City Cavaliers. In their third year as a program, the Cavaliers are headed to state in record numbers and every competitor will hit the mats at Mizzou Arena for the first time.
