They stuck around, and Hwang Daeheon won gold in the men's 1,500 meters on Wednesday. He edged his skate in front in a tight finish of the 10-man final at Capital Indoor Stadium, giving South Korea the title for the fourth time in six Olympics.

Italy beats Norway to win Olympic gold in mixed curling

BEIJING (AP) — Italy completed a near-perfect Olympics with an 8-5 victory over Norway to win the gold medal in mixed doubles curling on Tuesday. The win at the Ice Cube capped a dominant performance for Amos Mosaner and Stefania Constantini, who were undefeated in the round-robin and then advanced to the gold medal match with an 8-1 victory over Sweden. Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten will take a silver medal back to Norway four years after claiming bronze at the Pyeongchang Games.

Delayed for days in the United States by COVID-19, the speedskater's journey of 20-plus hours began in his hometown of Park City, Utah. He flew across the U.S. and caught a flight to Paris. From there, it was on to Beijing.
