Beings of Oregon: Carol Fourtner, 92-year-old watercolor art teacher

Carol Fourtner is a 92-years-old water color artist living in Eugene with her daughter Debby Engle. She moved to the area from California 30 years ago.
“As long as I can remember I always enjoyed the arts,” said Fourtner during a Zoom interview earlier this week. “It has always been something that I dearly loved.”
In 2009, she walked into the office of the then-superintendent at the River Road Parks and Recreation District and asked about teaching a watercolor class there. He told her if she could get five students signed up, it was all her’s. She has been teaching classes of 10 to 13 students ever since.
