KUALA LUMPUR: The hearing of a lawsuit filed by 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and three of its subsidiaries against Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz, the stepson of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, for alleged misappropriation of funds amounting to US$250mil (RM1.1bil) for film production and purchase of real estate, will begin on Oct 16, 2024, at the High Court here.

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here was told that the 263 handbags of various brands, 27 pairs of shoes as well as 10 pieces of luxury watches seized by police from the residence of Datuk Seri Najib Razak relating to the misappropriation of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds were gifts from friends and dignitaries.
Lawyer Iskandar Shah Ibrahim, who is representing Najib’s wife and daughter, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Nooryana Najwa, respectively, also said there was no money trail to show that all the assets were from the misappropriation of 1MDB funds.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The High Court here was told that 263 handbags of various brands, 27 pairs of shoes as well as 10 luxury watches seized by police from the residence of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak relating to the misappropriation of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds were gifts from friends and dignitaries.
Lawyer Iskandar Shah Ibrahim, who is representing Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Nooryana Najwa, the wife and daughter of the former prime minister, also said on Friday (May 7) that there was no money trail to show all the assets were from the misappropriation of 1MDB funds.
Counsel Iskandar Shah Ibrahim said based on an affidavit of 1MDB investigating officer Supt Foo Wei Min, the prosecution itself could not confirm if the handbags as well as shoes were gifts or acquired with wealth gained from illegal activities.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): 2020 has been an eventful year for the country's judiciary, with verdicts delivered for several high-profile cases – the most prominent involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Other court cases that took centre stage this year involved the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, including corruption, criminal breach of trust (CBT) and money laundering trials involving prominent leaders in the country.
On July 28, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was sentenced to 12 years' jail and a RM210mil fine by High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali after finding him guilty on seven charges of CBT, money laundering and abuse of position involving RM42mil of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.
