As April of 1971 came to a close so did two Henderson institutions.
The city of Henderson hosted an appreciation program for Margaret L. “Tardy” Nichols April 28 at what is now called The Gathering Place because she was retiring. The end of April also saw the last passenger trains stop at Union Station.
I wrote last June 7 about passenger service ending at Union Station, so I’m not going to dwell on that at length. I want instead to focus on Nichols, who probably has not been given full recognition for the roles she played. ....
