Manuel R. 'The Chief' Alvarez, a longtime maritime engineer and accomplished cook, dies
Manuel R. “The Chief” Alvarez, who worked for three decades as a chief engineer aboard harbor tugs and ships and was also an accomplished cook, died of lymphoma Sunday at his Linthicum home. He was 87.
