If you’re an experienced R&D engineer and you form a company with “innovative” in the name, you’d better be ready to deliver novel, creative solutions to real-world challenges. Mohawk Innovative Technology, Inc. (MITI) co-founders Jim Walton, M.E., and Hooshang Heshmat, Ph.D., merged their aerospace and metallurgical expertise in 1994 with exactly that in mind, and have run a thriving design-engineering business ever since.

The Fourth Healthcare Revolution - Digital Technologies Are Driving a New Frontier in Medical Treatment

In September 2020, the Government announced £32 million of funding for research and development in transformative healthcare technology projects. After previously lagging behind other industries in digitalisation, this new investment could catalyse the fourth healthcare revolution. Here, Stewart Goulding, managing director at precision drive system supplier Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS), looks at the innovative technologies that are paving the way for Healthcare 4.0.
The six technology projects set to receive the influx of funding include a walk-through artificial intelligence (AI) x-ray scanner that can diagnose cancer more quickly and in more complex cases, such as if tumours are particularly hidden in the body.  ....

POWER2DRIVE EUROPE 2021: CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE BUSINESS ELECTRIFIES EUROPE

COVID-19 & Looking Ahead to 2021 and Beyond, Insights from SoltecFor widespread acceptance of e-mobility, users need not only a wide range of affordable electric vehicles, but also a reliable charging infrastructure that covers the entire country. This is essential for the purchase decision and thus for the ramp-up of electromobility. Public subsidies and a smart tax policy are driving electromobility and the expansion of the charging infrastructure in Europe. In the Netherlands, for example, not only are sales of e-cars booming - more than 66,600 public charging stations have already been installed, that is more than anywhere else in Europe. Three battery electric vehicles (BEVs) share one charging point here, according to EAFO statistics. ....
