For billions of years unless it blows up on as sent. phil keating. it's a big day. >> humongous day, shep, for spacex and beyond spacex, for all human space travel in the future. if this rocket does successfully launch, heads off to space, deploys the tesla electric sports car, sending it out to the earth-mars orbit and all three rocket stages come back down to earth, two of them on the landing zone and the center score burning an additional minute and that would come down into the floating drone ship in the atlantic ocean. if spacex can accomplish all this, this opens the doors. number 1, put...
Blasted its way to a major milestone. the weather allowed for a picture-perfect launch after a bleak separation of the first and second rocket stages. the cargo ship is orbiting earth with solar arrays deployed to the space station. >> this is another historic day for commercial spaceflight. a very proud day for nasa. an amazing accomplishment for our partner. congratulations to the entire team. you have operated flawlessly. the teams came together beautifully today for a picture-perfect launch. >> they have a four-day trajectory to reach the space station. these are very critical days as able...
moment? >> well, i think it was pretty clear from the information we were getting in the days before this that they had fully fueled the rocket and that the launch pad was ready. i guess it was just a matter of finding the right weather conditions under which to launch this rocket. very clearly, they had the right launch conditions today. politically, they were able to elevate this young fellow to the highest position within the party the day before yesterday, so politically the stage was set. now they have done what they said they were going to do for several weeks now. >> so what a...
