Murfreesboro Rotarian had his fingernails painted purple to show his commitment to eradicating polio

For those who may not have known, October was worldwide Polio awareness month. The Rotary Club of Murfreesboro along with the 62 clubs of  Rotary District 6760 recently participated in Purple Pinkie Donut Day to raise funds to combat Polio.  During this annual event, for every $25 box of donuts, $187.50 in matching funds from The Bill & Melinda  Gates Foundation, Rotary District 6760 grants and Dunkin’s Donuts across Middle and West Tennessee and  North Mississippi . ....

well, what we saw in georgia after the election is we had poll workers in fact, we had some poll workers who were followed home in bartow county which went over 75% of president trump, followed home. that s the kind of intimidation that should never occur. a young poll worker was threatened along with his family members because he had a unique last name kind of like i do. that should never happen. we had election directors. if you have an election and your poll workers don t show up, what are you going to do? the poll workers are giving back to their committees. it doesn t pay a lot. it s a 14-hour day. you have to do training. those poll workers are po people you meet at the grocery store, the ball field, church, rotary, organizations like that. they re good, honest, decent people. they re salt of the earth people just giving back to their country to make sure we have fair and honest elections. we should never allow that to happen again. ....

What can be done up front? what can be done to change the scenario ahead of election say to voters can have confidence their vote is being cast and counted fairly? we did voter education and encourage every county voting executive to go out there and go to the city, county, high schools, kawannous, rotary, machines, be out there. people need to understand we in georgia have thousands of precincts. you look at how many there are. local volunteers who volunteered to be precinct workers. those in the grocery churches and ball fields and people doing the hard work to make sure the numbers line up. and this is a process starting at the precinct level and reports to levels to the county who then report them to state. ....
