LOWELL — Repair work on the aging Rourke Bridge, previously expected to wrap up by March, has been extended until May and perhaps into the summer, according to a spokesperson with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
MassDOT's inspections of the Rourke Bridge are not publicly available, and it's not even clear when the last state inspection was completed. Bridge safety in the commonwealth came under scrutiny following the catastrophic collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge Tuesday morning.
