MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Murfreesboro Emergency Communications Center (MECC) Communications Supervisor Tiffany Matthews receives the Emergency Number Professionals (ENP) Certification, becoming one of only eight in Rutherford County to attain the prestigious professional designation.

United Plans $85M Fiber Buildout in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - United Communications today announced plans to invest another $85 million to expand its enterprise-ready fiber internet service to an additional 77,000 MTE members in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
 
A series of multi-year infrastructure projects will create 1,400 route miles of new fiber-optic lines capable of delivering multi-gig internet service to homes and businesses of all sizes.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. –  Murfreesboro Emergency Communications Center (MECC) Communications Specialist II Jeffery Harter receives the Emergency Number Professionals (ENP) Certification, becoming one of only seven in Rutherford County to attain the prestigious professional designation.

Murfreesboro Planning Commission tables Mercury Boulevard street name change for Martin Luther King


The Murfreesboro Planning Commission delayed a vote about changing the name of Mercury Boulevard to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for two weeks after a lengthy discussion to keep or drop the doctoral title.
As stated in previous meetings, a two-mile section of Mercury Boulevard would become Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and a 600-foot stretch of road beyond South Rutherford would take on the name John Bragg Highway.
The concern is whether or not including King’s doctoral title stems from the potential navigation mishaps that could come from “Doctor” and “Drive” sharing the same abbreviation.
Feedback from the Rutherford County Emergency Communications District pointed said that could affect emergency responders. The Murfreesboro Transportation Department also stated that it would not be advisable to use the “Dr.” abbreviation as a prefix.
