Yaphet Kotto, an actor whose career spanned blockbusters like the James Bond film Live and Let Die and Alien, has died. He was 81 years old.
The actor’s death was confirmed Tuesday by his agent, Ryan Goldhar, according to The New York Times. A cause of death has not yet been reported.
Kotto’s wife, Sinahon Thessa, also confirmed his death with a lengthy Facebook post, shared Monday. “Rest in Peace Honey,” she wrote, noting they had been married for 24 years. “I’m gonna miss you every day, my best friend, my rock. I love you and you will always be in my heart. Till we meet again!”

Yaphet Kotto, an actor whose credits include the films Alien and Live and Let Die as well as a long tenure on TV series Homicide: Life on the Street, has died, his agent announced. He was 81.

Kotto, whose career spanned from the 1960s to the 1990s, died Sunday in the Philippines, where he lived with his wife, agent Ryan Goldhar said. The cause of death was not released.
The actor's long list of credits includes the films Alien, The Running Man, Midnight Run, The Thomas Crown Affair and horror sequel Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. In 1973, he portrayed iconic James Bond villain Mr. Big in Live and Let Die.

In a statement Monday on Facebook, wife Sinahon Thessa described her late husband as a "legend".
"You played a villain on some of your movies but for me you're a real hero and to a lot of people also," she said.
Agent Ryan Goldhar confirmed his passing in an email to AFP. He did not share the cause of death.

Yaphet Kotto — the Black actor who portrayed one of the most beloved James Bond villains — has died at the age of 81. Kotto’s wife, Tessie Sinahon, first announced his death in a loving Facebook post that was shared to his public page on Monday, March 15.
“I’m saddened and still in shocked of the passing of my husband Yaphet of 24 years. He died last night around 10:30pm Philippine time,” Sinahon wrote, noting the actor still had a lot of plans, including offers for movie roles with Tom Cruise, in the G.I. Joe Franchise and more. She went on to praise her life partner.

According to Variety, his agent Ryan Goldhar confirmed the sad news.
On Monday (March 15) evening, Kotto’s wife, Tessie Sinahon, wrote on Facebook, “I’m saddened and still in shocked of the passing of my husband Yaphet of 24 years. He died last night around 10:30pm Philippine time.”
She continued, “You played a villain on some of your movies but for me you’re a real hero and to a lot of people also. A good man, a good father, a good husband and a decent human being, very rare to find. One of the best actor in Hollywood a Legend. Rest in Peace Honey, I’m gonna miss you everyday, my bestfriend, my rock.”
