Two minutes before the hour-mark, the encounter was stopped to allow Aurier to break his fast with an energy drink but Mason was impressed with his all-round contribution as Spurs kept their 11th clean sheet in the Premier League this term.
“I think the most important thing when you're a defender is to defend and he did that tonight with the rest of the defence,” Mason said per
“I think that's 11 clean sheets in the Premier League this season now. That's good. That's positive.
“Serge is fasting as well so I think it makes that performance even more impressive because he hasn't been able to eat all day so put in 90 minutes like that is outstanding.”

Tottenham are reported to have held 'positive' talks with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte over succeeding Jose Mourinho as their new head coach.
The 51-year-old's Inter were crown Serie A champions on Saturday after they defeated Crotone and Atalanta failed to win at Sassuolo, ending Juventus' decade of scudetto dominance.
In north London, meanwhile, Spurs are on the hunt for a new permanent boss after opting to remove Mourinho from his position before the Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City. They would go on to lose that final - extending their 13-year run without silverware - and look unlikely to finish in the Premier League's top four unless a number of results go their way.

Leeds winger Helder Costa has been ruled out of the last four games of the Premier League season.
The Portuguese missed last week’s 2-0 defeat at Brighton due to a back injury sustained in the recent draw against Manchester United.
“He won’t be able to compete again this season,” said Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa, who confirmed both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha remain doubtful for Saturday’s home game against Tottenham.

Eric Dier feels criticism of his performances 'a bit unfair' · The42

TOTTENHAM DEFENDER Eric Dier feels he has been harshly judged for his performances this season.
Dier has made a number of costly errors that led to goals, noticeably in defeats to Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham, and received a lot of criticism for them.
Former boss Jose Mourinho chopped and changed him from the team and also said he was suffering from a lack of confidence – something that Dier later denied.
However, the England international has found himself back in the side under interim boss Ryan Mason and has looked much more assured.
“I’m really happy to have played the last three. I’ve felt good in those games,” the 27-year-old said. “I want to be playing, I want to be performing to a level I know I can.

Jose Mourinho has made a rapid return to management with Roma announcing he will take over for the 2021-22 season.
The Portuguese boss, 58, has signed a three-year deal that will run through to 2024. It also ushers in a return to Serie A for Mourinho, who won the treble with Inter Milan in a two-year spell at the San Siro from 2008 until 2010.
UK’s Sportsmailunderstands that Roma’s emphatic 6-2 defeat by Manchester United in the Europa League last week speeded up the arrival of Mourinho.
Mourinho being available and ready to start was also appealing to Roma, with the Friedkin family who own the club looking to appoint the best free coach to replace Paolo Fonseca and avoid paying out millions in compensation.

Levy may be about to repeat a mistake he made at Spurs eight years ago – Our View
Tottenham’s search for a new manager is proving to be a stressful one.
Indeed, Spurs’ top targets seem to be dropping like flies. Brendan Rodgers doesn’t want the job, Erik Ten Hag has just signed a new contract, while Julian Nagelsmann has joined Bayern Munich.
Tottenham’s shortlist is getting shorter and shorter, and it’s now being reported that there’s a growing belief at the club that Ryan Mason could actually get the job on a full-time basis.
Appointing a 29-year-old who has only ever managed three senior games in his life would be a bold move from Spurs, but it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve done something like this.

Tottenham forward Son Heung-Min has revealed that he misses a ‘great player’ sold on the cheap by the club in 2020.
The
South Korean, who is arguably having his best season in a Spurs shirt, has admitted to missing playing alongside Christian Eriksen in north London. The Dane was sold for a cut-price £16.9million to Inter Milan in January 2020, due to the fact his contract was winding down.
And Son admits the absence of
Tottenham team has been felt as a result.
After enduring a tough first year in Italy, the 29-year-old has been pivotal during the second half of the season – as

Harry Kane Tottenham exit 'confirmed' as two clubs emerge as contenders

Mason recently was quick to avoid questions about Kane’s potential exit at Tottenham this summer.
“I don’t think so. Harry Kane loves this football club. That’s been proven over the last seven or eight years. He’s one of the best strikers in the world,” Mason said prior to Sunday’s clash with Sheffield United.
“Everyone knows that, we know that and I’d like to think Harry knows that as well.
“The most important thing right now, and our attention right now, is this weekend. We can’t disrespect any opponent and we can’t be investing our energy into anything else.

Tottenham and Arsenal are both in talks with Italian coach Maurizio Sarri, according to a report in Italy.
Spurs are looking for a replacement for Jose Mourinho, who was
surprisingly appointed Roma head coach on Tuesday. Just two weeks after his dismissal at Tottenham the Portuguese coach has walked into another job back in Italy. The 58-year-old will take over in the summer and he claimed the “incredible passion” of the Roma fans convinced him to move to Rome.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy meanwhile is looking for a full-time coach to replace interim boss Ryan Mason. And

It hasn’t taken the former Man Utd and
Chelsea boss long to find a new job, though,
Italian publication

LONDON: Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Liverpool was postponed after furious United fans stormed Old Trafford in protest at the club’s owners on Sunday, while Gareth Bale scored a hat-trick as Tottenham thrashed Sheffield United 4-0.
Manchester City would have been crowned English champions for the third time in four seasons if second-placed United had lost to Liverpool.
But Pep Guardiola’s side saw their hopes of a title party put on hold after the biggest game in English football was postponed amid chaotic scenes at Old Trafford.

He former Blackpool and Liverpool man told the
Transfer Tavern: “I’ve got to be honest, I’ve been a bit of a critic of Harry. I think he’s neat and tidy and retains the ball but there are better players out there.
“I hope he proves me wrong, but I don’t think he’s Premier League quality. He doesn’t offer enough in the modern-day game. I’ve seen other players like that in the past who flatter to deceive.”
Winks’ future in north London now depends on who comes in as the club’s new manager.

The 2020-21 fans-less season of the Premier League is coming mercifully to its conclusion, and while the title has been long wrapped up (congrats, Manchester City) and the bottom three have been pretty much set for almost as long (bye-bye Fulham, West Brom, and Sheffield United), the battle for the top-four remains must-see TV.
(It is perhaps appropriate that this is the last dramatic frontier in the league in a year that also saw The Super League make the leap from a vague idea to actual possibility, threatening to destroy this very facet of the domestic competitions.)
