TAMPA, Fla. — Dozen gathered for an emotional tribute Wednesday night, honoring 17 members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office who have died in the line of duty.
The memorial service returned with a new name this year after the annual ceremony was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic.'
Family members of Sgt. Brian LaVigne helped unveil his name on the agency’s Fallen Heroes Memorial. LaVigne was struck and killed by Travis Garrett, who was attempting to escape arrest on January 11.
“I’m hopeful that ceremonies like this will help bring even just a semblance of comfort to the families of our fallen heroes,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Reminding them that their fallen hero will be remembered forever.”

Tampa Mayor Reacts To Post-Super Bowl Pandemic Partying – Luda, Migos, Cardi Hit The Scene + St. Petersburg Mayor Calls Out THIS Rapper For SB Party

Feb 08 | by
Fans and celebs were heavy on the party scene after the Bucs' Super Bowl LV win! And mayors of Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg in Florida aren't happy seeing all of the maskless party people. More inside...
Super LV brought tons of parties and celebrities into the city for some football fun.
It appears the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines went out the window after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9, during Super LV. If we’re being technical, guidelines weren’t being followed during pre-Super Bowl events either, which we’ll discuss later.
Bucs fans flooded the streets after the big win, celebrating Tom Brady’s 7th Super Bowl championship ring and the franchise’s second Super Bowl win. The NFL limited attendance to Sunday’s big game to 25,000 people at Raymond James Stadium, which usually holds up to 66,000 fans.

TAMPA, Fla. — Videos showing Super Bowl parties and dancing crowds are sparking superspreader concerns in Tampa.
Thousands of people, many not wearing masks, lined 7th Avenue in Ybor City all weekend leading up to Super Bowl LV in Tampa on Sunday evening.
“It was an ocean of people,” said Alex Barbosa, who lives on the historic block.
Much of the crowd, business owners say, stemmed from Qvesoir, a nightclub venue located at 1920 E. 7th Avenue.
A public post on Instagram promoted rapper Kodak Black as a performer Friday night. Former President Donald Trump pardoned Kodak Black in his final hours of office.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A White House official said Florida has only used about half of the COVID-19 vaccine supply it's received from the federal government, despite repeated calls from Gov. Ron DeSantis for President Joe Biden's administration to immediately send more doses to the state.
At a Monday afternoon briefing, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki addressed recent comments by DeSantis, who has been critical of the Biden administration's plan to open dozens of FEMA-operated COVID-19 vaccination sites across the country.
