The last big group of about 700 Indian students evacuated from the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy has boarded a special train from Poltava and are likely to board a flight to India from Poland on Thursday.

Indian students evacuated from Ukraine's Sumy were seen smiling after boarding a special train on Wednesday, in pictures tweeted by the embassy which are certain to bring relief to tense families back home.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban and thanked him for facilitating evacuation of more than 6000 Indian nations through the Ukraine-Hungary border following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
