Volunteer firefighter Alex Fischer returned home after being injured in a crash last month that was caused by a suspected drunk driver.
The accident, which killed volunteer firefighter Tom Royds, occurred around 20 minutes after a collision between two cars on the westbound expressway in Lower Merion. Royds and other members of the Lower Merion Fire Department had responded to the initial accident to close the highway's right lane and shoulder. A State Police trooper was questioning one of the motorists in the initial collision when Walker "drove up the right shoulder, striking the trooper, three firefighters and the Altima," police said.
