UvA: Peter-Paul Verbeek appointed new rector magnificus

The Supervisory Board of the University of Amsterdam has named Peter-Paul Verbeek (1970) Rector Magnificus and member of the Executive Board of the UvA. This was done with positive recommendations from the representative advisory bodies. The appointment is for a period of four years and takes effect on 1 October 2022. Verbeek succeeds the current rector Karen Maex, who leaves the UvA in July.
