The Lodi Unified School District will now give families the option to determine whether certain reading materials are appropriate for their children.
The proposed rules would require indoor workplaces to be cooled below 87 degrees Fahrenheit when employees are present. They<b> </b>would require<b> </b>breaks and water and other cooling devices when 87 degrees cannot be met.
Proposed state standards to protect indoor workers from extreme heat would extend to schools. The rules come as climate change is bringing more frequent and intense heat waves, causing schools nationwide to cancel instruction.
A state worker safety board is scheduled to vote on the rules June 20, and they would likely take effect this summer.
