　　但报道指出，此番集体感染很可能是因为部队在派驻地与当地人接触时，感染了病毒。清海部队的作战时间为6个月，在8月末返回韩国之前，都要在未接种疫苗的情况下进行防疫。
　　报道指出，派驻的海军尽管是在海上作战，却需要经常停靠中东和非洲当地港口获得军需补给。这次出现肺炎症状的部队干部，就曾在6月底前往当地港口搬运物资。军方相关人士说，“为防止在当地感染新冠肺炎病毒，官兵都是身穿防护服搬运物资”，“但负责补给的干部需要查验物资并与当地人商量新的补给合� ....

韩国军方针对部队内部的集体感染采取同质群体隔离措施，但2020年，韩军方内部已经得出此举对舰艇无效的结论，预计感染还会进一步扩散。
清海部队的启航时间是今年2月，是在韩国针对部队启动疫苗接种工作之前，因此该部队无一人接种疫苗。
