CANANDAIGUA — A special election will be conducted Nov. 5 for two at-large City Council seats.
Capt. Walter H. Allman III, a 1997 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, will return to Annapolis from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, where he currently serves as director of Targeting and the Fires and Effects Center for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., has said he is using his leverage to block votes as a protest of a Biden administration policy protecting abortion access for military personnel and their dependents. For Annapolis, that means the brigade of about 4,400 midshipmen, as well as about 2,500 faculty and staff, are under the supervision of an acting superintendent.
Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville is holding up the confirmation of many military officers, including that of Yvette M. Davids, who was nominated in April to become the first female superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy.
