95 private hospitals have started uploading real-time data on bed availability The Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes’ Association (PHANA) on Sunday launched a portal — Search My Bed — which will provide real-time information on the availability of beds in private hospitals for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. This has been a long-standing demand from citizens who were otherwise forced to call up private hospitals or knock on their doors to see if there were any beds available for patients. Secretary of the PHANA Rajashekar Y.L. said that 95 private hospitals had already started providing real-time information on bed availability. “In the coming days, more and more hospitals will be enrolled and hospitals will be encouraged to display the data in real time,” he said.
PHANA attributes delay to technical issues Currently, citizens can look at the Central Hospital Bed Management System (CHBMS) to ascertain where beds are available in government and private hospitals under the government quota. A similar system will soon go live for beds available under private quota. The Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes’ Association (PHANA) will be launching the ‘Search My Bed’ portal that provides information on availability of beds in private hospitals by Wednesday, said Prasanna H.M., president, PHANA. “We were running the portal privately, but there were some technical issues that cropped up. We are providing training to hospital staff on updating information on bed availability in real time. We will go live by Wednesday,” he confirmed.

"A dedicated portal 'Search My Bed' has been launched to provide information on bed availability in the city's private hospitals under their quota, which is 50 per cent of their capacity, for treating Covid patients," said Phana in a statement. To meet the growing demand for beds due to rising cases during the pandemic's second wave, the state government has directed private hospitals and nursing homes to reserve 50 per cent of their beds to treat Covid patients referred by its Health Department or state-run hospitals.
