The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the country can delay government's disinvestment plan for national carrier Air India, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey said on Wednesday. The government is selling its entire 100 per cent stake in Air India, which has been in losses ever since its merger with domestic operator Indian Airlines in 2007. It was targeting to complete disinvestment of the airline by September this year.

Centre to set up 551 PSA oxygen generation plants through PM CARES
The Prime Minister Office has stated that PM CARES Fund has given approval for setting up 551 dedicated Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) medical oxygen generation plants inside public health facilities across the country. This will be done in order to boost the availability of oxygen in hospitals that are dealing with the worsening COVID-19 situation.
Liquid oxygen reserved for medical use only; no supply to industries: MHA tells states
Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered states and union territories to reserve the national supply of liquid oxygen, including the existing stock, exclusively for medical purposes. In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said that all liquid oxygen manufacturing units shall be allowed to maximise their capacity and supply the crucial commodity to the government for medical use.

Worrying the deadly second wave of Covid, PM Modi's visit to Portugal, France are not certain


Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Portugal and France are in uncertainty as India grapples with the deadly second wave of coronavirus.
As per sources who told a leading business daily the final decision on the visit is yet to be taken. Although visits are not officially announced by the Ministry of External Affairs but, it is learnt that all preparations and advance teams had done all required drills for the visit.
PM Modi is holding back-to-back meetings with all the stakeholders in the fight against COVID-19 and keeping a very close eye on the situation. PM Modi was slated to visit Portugal for India-European Unions summit on May 8th and also France for bilateral talks and meeting with the French President Emmanuel Macron.

Even as the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in India is spreading faster than the first one, mortality rate this time around is lower than the period when daily cases were at the same level in the country, noted ratings agency CRISIL. Even though the surge in cases was concentrated in a couple of states, it is slowly dispersing to other states too, the agency further stated.
