The Court said that to make assumptions that a woman, by virtue of her profession as a police officer, cannot possibly be a victim in her own personal or matrimonial life, is a form of injustice.
The Court further observed that compelling a married woman to live in her parental home on account of non-fulfillment of demand of dowry would also amount to mental harassment.
The Patna High Court recently observed that when a husband requests money from his wife's parents to meet the expenses of rearing the couple's newborn child, such a demand does not amount to dowry harassment.
