MEED | Saudi extends closures to curb Covid-19


Movement and capacity restrictions to continue in the kingdom as Iran braces for potential fourth wave
The number of Covid-19 cases in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region crossed 5,297,115 on 15 February, according to Worldometers data collated by MEED.
Countries in the GCC account for 24.7 per cent (1,309,906) of all regional cases, and Iran’s 1,526,023 cases alone make up 28.8 per cent of the regional 5.2 million infections.
With 372,732 total confirmed infections, 363,585 recoveries and 6,433 deaths, Saudi Arabia has the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the GCC.

As case numbers continue to grow amid a global resurgence of the coronavirus and its new variants, the kingdom announced on 14 February a 20-day extension on restrictions imposed earlier this month to curb the pandemic. ....

Seven-day hotel stay must for all passengers coming to Oman from today

Muscat: People coming to Oman will have to stay in hotels for at least seven days as a part of institutional quarantine, the Ministry of Social Development announced on Thursday.
The procedures have been implemented at all Oman Airports from today and the passengers will have to book the hotels once they land in the airports.
The ministry has earmarked six hotels in Muscat governorate which have been identified as Swiss-Belinn Muscat, Ibis, Secure Inn, Sheraton, Tulip Inn and Somerset Panorama Muscat. ....
