Tourism Holdings has significantly reduced debt after a disastrous year for tourism-related companies but will likely seek further funding as it re-invests in a new vehicle fleet.
The company posted a net loss after tax of $1.77 million for the six months ending December 31 and an underlying net loss of $3m, down from a profit of $13.1m for the same period last year.
Total revenue fell 1 per cent to $205.8m, driven by growth in vehicle sales. But international rental revenue plunged 50 per cent to $64.8m. ....

PTI lawmakers submit resolution in PA to seek IGP's removal

Lawmakers belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday to seek the dismissal of the provincial police chief for “politically retaliating” against leaders and workers of the party in the province.
PTI MPAs Khurram Sher Zaman, Bilal Ghaffar, Jamal Siddiqui, Shehzad Qureshi, Rabistan Khan, Dr Sanjay, Dr Seema Zia, Adiba Arif Hassan and Dua Bhutto submitted the resolution to the secretary of the provincial legislature.
Later, talking to the media, PTI Karachi president and MPA Khurram Sher Zaman said the Pakistan Peoples Party wanted to make Sindh a police state. “The situation in the Sindh province is getting worse and worse. The PPP is using the Sindh police for its personal purposes, the evidence of which is in front of everyone,” he said. Zaman said that everyone saw through the media what role the police played in the recent PS-88 by-election. ....
