Well, coaches should notice this week after Blancas accounted for 337 all purpose yards and three touchdowns in Selma’s 42-13 victory over the Kerman Lions Friday night in a locally televised game at Staley Stadium.
This Friday, the Bears will host the 0-2 Dinuba Emperors in the final home game of the abbreviated season. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. for Senior Night. The Emperors are coming off a 35–0 loss to unbeaten Kingsburg.

Selma scored on their first possession, as Joey Ramirez found Blancas for a 72-yard touchdown with 8:50 left in the first quarter. But Kerman responded to tie the game marching 68 yards in 13 plays in a drive that took seven minutes off the clock.

Raisin Capital of the World: What is happening in Selma?

If you had the opportunity to drive on Second Street from East Front Street to High Street, you have seen the new lights brightening up the street!  Yes, thanks to the generous support of the California Water Company and the partnership of the Selma District Chamber of Commerce and the City of Selma, the lighting project for Second Street is complete.
A BIG shout out goes to the Public Works Department and Mark Alves (Alves Electric) for supplying the labor  to do the actual wrapping of the trees with lights and the hanging of the café lights down the street.  Again, the Selma District Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a part of a COMMUNITY that works together to improve the quality of life for its residents.  GOOD WORK ALL WHO HELPED MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Hurtado introduces bill to support migrant workers

SACRAMENTO — Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) today introduced legislation to create greater access to childcare for our agricultural workers in the hours needed to support their jobs.
“Agriculture is the backbone of our community – those who uproot their lives to provide the food we eat must have access to childcare for the hours they work,” said Senator Hurtado. “California must do whatever it can to meet the needs of these workers and their children.”
The legislation, Senate Bill 393, aligns California’s lone Migrant Childcare Alternative Payment Program with funding available to other parental choice voucher-based childcare programs.  Due to an antiquated statute, the program did not receive a fair share of new childcare slots for workers to access.
