Mayo Senator calls for partners to be allowed attend during labour Published: Thursday, 06 May 2021 10:58 A Mayo Senator is calling for an end to maternity restrictions, which exclude partners from the labour ward. Fianna Fail Senator Lisa Chambers says women's voices are being ignored, as 14 months into the Covid pandemic, the HSE and hospitals still haven't managed to find a solution which would allow partners to be included. Mayo University Hospital now allows visiting for one hour each evening on the maternity ward, while fathers are allowed to attend the 20-week scan. However, Senator Chambers says partners provide important mental and physical support to the expectant mother, and should be allowed to attend during labour.....
