Ontario is making it easier for residents aged 65 and older to qualify for dental care and prescriptions programs designed for low-income seniors.
The income threshold is increasing for both the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program and the Seniors Co-Payment Program as of Aug. 1, the Doug Ford government announced Tuesday.

The new eligibility threshold will be an annual income of $19,300 to $22,000 for individuals and a combined income of $32,300 to $37,100 for a couple.
Eligible low-income seniors are provided with free routine dental care and pay no annual deductible and a reduced co-payment on prescriptions.

More Quinte seniors and across Ontario will be eligible for dental care and affordable prescription medications following word from the Ontario government it is updating income eligibility thresholds.
In an announcement Tuesday, Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, said the changes will mean a higher number of seniors will have access to critical health items.
