We have confirmed that the coalition with whom we reached out reached an understanding with yesterday, did not initiate todays actions. Propalestinian protesters not backing down at uc berkeley this afternoon. They took over a vacant building near campus. Demonstrators breaking windows, hanging flags and setting up camp. The latest data from the federal department of housing and urban Development Shows 30 of the overall Homeless Population in the United States is here in our state. Now, for context, california accounts for 11. 7 of the countrys total population. And here in the bay area, renewed concerns of environmental and health risks in the south bay, where homeless encampments have grown along waterways in both san jose and santa clara and the largest water provider in the south bay, is now proposing an ordinance to ban unsheltered people from camping along those waterways. They started the bay areas third encampment on a college campus. Media representatives for the campers say the encampment will send a clear message to School Administrators, mainly the divestment. What were concerned about is the divestment on the behalf of the California State University system from the Israeli Military alumni returning to the campus say theyre encouraged to see students fighting for what they believe in.
