The Sustainability Summer Research Fellowship was launched in 2013 and has supported mentored research for 53 undergraduates. That work has included five publications, one patent and more than 75 presentations.
Educators and others who seek to grow students’ interest in STEM are celebrating National STEM Day, which takes place annually on Nov. 8. Recently, the faculty, students, staff and community partners who collaborate on UK’s STEM Experiences Camps reflected on the impact of making positive STEM experiences accessible to youth.
This past May, during Spring Move-Out, the University of Kentucky’s Recycling Program was happy to re-offer the Give and Go Donation Station Program to all resident students on campus. Donation stations were placed in the lobby of every residence hall on campus for students to donate items as they prepared to leave campus for the semester break.
This year, the program is encouraging proposals that align with one or more of the five guiding principles from the forthcoming Sustainability Strategic Plan (SSP) update and support the university’s renewed focus on Transdisciplinary Educational approaches to advance Kentucky (TEK).
