dateline, pacific ocean, july 3, 1937. reporter: 75 years later, scientists are now preparing to set sail for the spot where they believe earhart disappeared. i have been fortunate. reporter: chasing two tantalizing new clues. the first discovered in june, shards of a 1930s era glass jar of anti-freckle cream. she had freckles and there are numerous occasions which she expressed concerns concern about her freckles. reporter: five broken pieces of the jar were found on gardner island in the south pacific. reconstructed glass shards look like this from dr. barry s freckle ointment sold in the 30s. one of the pieces appeared to be used as a cutting tool. this looks to us like castaway behavior. reporter: a woman s compact, buttons, and flight jacket zipper were unearthed on the same island. earhart would have flown over the island as seen in the movie ....
