Alberta Environment Minister Rebecca Schulz said the logging of a popular hiking area near Bragg Creek will be done responsibly.
West Fraser (formerly Spray Lake Sawmills) plans to clearcut 900 hectares, (~833 soccer fields) near West Bragg Creek and another 450 ha. in the Moose Mountain Trail Network.
“There are over 15,000 individuals that have put their name on a petition demanding to stop the West Bragg and Moose Mountain harvest," said Bragg Creek and Kananaskis Outdoor Recreation member.
Popular hiking trails near Bragg Creek, around 35 kilometres west of Calgary, are at risk from a proposed clearcut logging project — and concerned outdoor enthusiasts are trying to stop it.
