CAHNRS announces 2021 faculty/staff award winners | WSU Insider | Washington State University

Eleven individuals, and one team of 14 earned recognition for their exceptional contributions to research, teaching, and Extension. They were celebrated last week as the 2021 Faculty and Staff Award Winners in WSU’s College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences.
Administrative Professional Excellence Award
Heather MacDermott Havey, director of the WSU Children’s Center, is responsible for the daily operations of the Center, including  fiscal sustainability, family engagement, and child outcomes.
AP Technical Staff Excellence Award
Jennifer Kiser, a lab manager in the Department of Animal Sciences, first arrived at WSU in 2013 to pursue a master’s degree and was offered the lab manager position. She continues the research she enjoys and works with students.

Veterinary Teaching Hospital a WSU success story during pandemic | WSU Insider

The absence of clients in the lobby, faces hidden behind masks and all-too-familiar social distancing signs at Washington State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital are lingering reminders of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A year ago, the virus was rapidly spreading, and University and veterinary hospital officials were grappling with how to safely provide their patients care and emergency services not available elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Today, even though many restrictions remain in place, the number of patients being seen at the veterinary hospital exceeds pre-pandemic levels. Like the University, it is inching closer to a full reopening, and health officials say it is one of many WSU success stories during the pandemic.

2021 Showcase award winners announced | WSU Insider | Washington State University

Faculty and staff winners of this year’s Showcase awards were announced today ahead of the weeklong celebration of academic excellence.
Amit Bandyopadhyay, a faculty member of the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, received this year’s Distinguished Faculty Award in recognition of his achievements in research, scholarship and teaching. Bandyopadhyay will be delivering this year’s Distinguished Faculty Address on March 22.
The State of the University address, Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA), Three-Minute Thesis and the Celebrating Excellence Awards Ceremony are among events scheduled during the annual Showcase week, March 22-29. All of this year’s events will be taking place online. Continue to check the Showcase website for the latest information on dates and times of events, as well as ways to participate.
