The news earlier this week that Frank Carone, Adams’ chief of staff, will depart by year’s end has kept City Hall abuzz for most of the week, and the names that have emerged from the din as possible replacements are Sheena Wright, deputy mayor for strategic initiatives; James Oddo, who serves as chief of staff to Deputy Mayor Meera Joshi; Tiffany Raspberry, senior advisor for external affairs; and Camille Joseph Varlack, a partner at the law firm Bradford Edwards & Varlack.

Carone is expected to take on a leading role on Adams’ 2025 reelection campaign once he leaves City Hall, sources said.

“I’m not going to go into private conversations with our team,” Adams said of Grillo’s possible departure. “Lorraine has spent so many years in government. She has been an amazing anchor, and I was proud to have her join the team with her experience.”
Sheena Wright said that “economic mobility for people of color who are low income” will solve the city’s public safety issues.
