From the Old Pine Rocker: A snapshot of my second COVID-19 injection Sherry Maves Special to The Journal-Standard Finally the big day arrived, the appointment for my second COVID-19 shot; it’s funny how a person can look forward to an injection like it s a party or family milestone to celebrate. One more needle prick, a couple of weeks to wait, then freedom to gather with vaccinated friends and family once more. How I looked forward to that time. However, to many of us who worked with her at the Journal Standard, she was a mentor and a friend. In the 1970s when I first started writing for the paper, it was Olga who invited me to go along with her on an interview. Later, she was my cheerleader when I started my music column. Her enthusiasm and encouragement was such an inspiration to me then and in more recent times when I co-authored a book. ....
