Coconino County and Flagstaff are teaming up to fix this critical water pipeline

Officials from the Coconino National Forest and city of Flagstaff are collaborating on a project to fix a critical piece of water infrastructure.The Inner Basin water pipeline funnels 2 million to 4 million gallons to the city from the San Francisco Peaks each day and was damaged by the effects of last year’s Pipeline Fire.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (KPNX) — Evacuations have been ordered for communities near the Pipeline Fire, burning north of Flagstaff since Saturday, June 12.

In a statement Thursday night, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said deputies have conducted preliminary evaluations of the burn area. Current evacuation orders remain in place until further notice. County officials have deemed it unsafe to allow residents back into the evacuated area at this time.
