US pending home sales increase at fastest pace since January

Contracts to buy previously owned homes increased in July at the fastest pace since January, adding further evidence that the housing market may be rebounding. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) said on Wednesday its Pending Home Sales Index, based on signed contracts that become sales after a month or two, rose 0.9% to 77.6 in July versus a revised 0.4% increase in June. The uptick in pending home sales topped the forecast for a 0.6% decrease in a Reuters poll of economists.

US pending home sales rise for first time since February

Contracts to buy previously owned homes increased in June for the first time since February, suggesting that the housing market is recovering from the low point of its recent declines. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) said on Thursday that its Pending Home Sales Index, based on signed contracts that become sales after a month or two, rose 0.3% to 76.8 in June. Although pending home sales were still down 15.6% in June on a year-on-year basis, there is a growing body of evidence that the housing market is bottoming out.
