Betty Mae Full 1928

Betty Mae Full 1928 - 2021
Betty Mae Full was born April 3, 1928, in Salem, Oregon, to Edna (Cooley) Arthur and Henry W. Arthur. The family moved to Minnesota, where she spent her early childhood. She proclaimed to get to school in good weather she rode a horse four miles and in bad weather walked through three-foot-deep snowdrifts, uphill both ways.
When the family moved back to Oregon, Betty graduated from Newberg High School in 1945. She attended Linfield College and graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland as a Radiological Technologist. She moved to McMinnville in 1947, and for many years worked for the McMinnville Hospital, the Newberg Hospital, and Dr. Stephen Teal, retiring finally in 1990.

Oregon's greatest movies

JENNIFER MOODY
For The E
All right, movie-loving folks, time to pick your favorite children, and none of the rest get any Christmas presents.
We’ll admit we might be exaggerating just a bit, but that’s what it feels like when asked to pick the top 10 Oregon movies. Top 10 as in what? Dollars generated? Iconic scenes? Percentage actually shot in the Beaver State? Population of the annual visiting pilgrimage? Did we have to actually know it was in Oregon when we first watched it for it to count?
It’s all subjective, every last cinematic cell of it. So we’re going to just be that way about it and list our 10 favorites here; state sugarplums you can savor and share.

Trout and steelhead top the list
Oregon anglers relish the fact they can fish year-round. With the official start of winter just a few weeks away, it’s time to “fish out” the fingerless gloves, toe warmers and thermal underwear.
Winter whale watching
This year it’s a DYI adventure
It’s that time of year, when whales travel south along the Oregon coast. While there won’t be a visit to the Depoe Bay Whale Watching Center or with a volunteer from the Watching Spoken Here program (due to the Coronavirus), you can still go on your own. An Oregon State Parks has put together a brochure, Oregon Coast Whale Watching, includes a map with the best whale watching sites and tips for whale watching. So, bring a pair a binoculars and scan the horizon slowly to catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures.
