Wexford County Council has granted planning permission for the provision of six glamping pods and six yurts at a farm near Ferns as part of a new tourism project. Approved on January 24, the applicants are John and Patrick Breen of Kilthomas, Kilbora who requested permission for the “installation of a new wastewater treatment system and percolation area with all ancillary site works, which will be ancillary to a reception/display area for proposed new horticultural facility and woodland walk, and on-site parking previously granted”.

A campaign to see a nursing home developed at the site of the old Great Southern Hotel in Rosslare Harbour has been thrown into chaos after the campaign co-ordinators resigned en masse at a meeting in St Mary’s GAA, Tagoat on Tuesday evening. Formed following the creation of the 24/7 picket line outside the former hotel, the group had been representing the people of the village as they sought to prevent an International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centre being developed at the site instead of a nursing home, as had originally been intended.

The launch of Enniscorthy Drama Group's (EDG) production of The Hostage by Brendan Behan was held in Enniscorthy Castle as friends, supporters and members of EDG prepared for a play written by the late Brendan Behan. The evening began with opening words, welcomes and some classic Behan quotes from EDG vice-chairperson Maria Nolan who organised the launch night.
