By serving with our forces, with our diplomats, our development workers and so forth. and obviously it's a scene of complete chaos and it reflects the fact that we moved so sluggishly, the bureaucracy around the siv process was glacial at best, and now we are seeing the results of that. and we have to do everything we can. i've said that this is a dunkirk moment. these are friendlies who are stranded and we must help them get out. and you're not going to do it, by the way, by micro managing it from washington and having names. you're going to have to have people there in power on the ground to...

The afghans that we are evacuating right now are a tiny sliver of that. we are hearing from afghans on the ground right now who have been trapped for years and bureaucracy, a 15-step process for an interpreter visa. even within the last few days, interpreters were getting appointments at the u.s. embassy in kabul for september. even as they were evacuating. it is inexplicable how long the siv process has taken. the new puppy to visa has been opened up. and i can't make sense of it. it is so opaque. there's no timeline to it. it's such a wait and see process. and afghans don't have insights to ...
